Roger N. Allen's protocol on rain cancellations is as follows;
Our website will be updated by 3:30 PM by the league President if a cancellation has occurred for the 5:30 & 7:30 games. If you do not see the website posting a cancellation by 3:30 PM, and it is raining, or rain is in the forecast, assume the games are on.
Unless you receive a call from your Childs coach before 4:45 PM, please have the children in uniform at the field for a 5:30 PM game, by 5:00 PM. Game time rain cancellations may have to be made at the field by the President, or an officer present. Many days in the past have cleared in time for games, and it is sometimes worth waiting to see a weather pattern.
Once games start, league umpires (umpires are in control of field decisions once games begin) will determine if games are to be cancelled, based on inclement weather.
Make-ups are usually posted by the league (Wednesday's normally) on the website within a week following the rainout. Please do not call a league officer to ask if games are cancelled during a rainy day! Follow the above protocol at all times!
On practice days, never use fields if puddling is apparent. Practice cancellations are determined by each teams coaches, not league officers.
Lastly, if lightning is seen at any time in the park, we will first take a thirty (30) minute break from play, and then be updated by the umpires if play can resume. If after thirty (30) minutes the umpires feel that it is worth waiting for better weather, and not to cancel outright, they again can ask for another thirty (30) minute wait for better weather to come.
Help us see lightning! If you observe lightning in the distance, please alert all on field teams to stop play! It is common for the lower levels below our LM division to leave the park as soon as lightning has been seen, and not to wait thirty minutes, and not to make-up those games.
